Home Search Topics Contact About | Two Kinds Of DeathThere are two kinds of death, physical and spiritual. Physical death is when the heart stops beating and the soul (the non-material real and eternal person) leaves the body. Spiritual death is separation of that person from God. Genesis 2:16: And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 5:5: And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. Adam and Eve did not die physically the day they ate the forbidden fruit. They died spiritually. They were separated from God. All of their descendants, (us) inherit spiritual death from them. We are born physically alive but spiritually dead. God gave spiritual life to John the Baptist from his mother*s womb and He could do it for any of His elect, particularly if one of them is going to die before they reject Christ. Luke 113: But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. 14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. 15 For he (John the Baptist) shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother*s womb. Ephesians 2:1: And you hath he quickened, (made alive) who were dead in trespasses and sins; John 5:24: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Some receive eternal and spiritual life while they are still physically alive. Those who do not receive eternal and spiritual life while they are still physically alive will be spiritually dead forever.
